ehhh this is gonna be like never ending! Well here goes...

*How do you handle conflicts?

Well my tactic for handling conflicts is usually to just brush them off like nothing. That may be a good or bad thing, but I try not to worry about things that I can't control. On the other hand, the things I can control, well I try my best to fix them. I usually ask my mom what I should do to deal with the situation or my best friend because I know they will give me nothing but honesty. I think you will come across a lot of problems in life, but there's no need to fret and let them bring you down.

*Do you feel that your approach in effective? Why or why not?

I would say yes and no. It depends on the type of conflict it is. Usually if I have a problem I fix it right then and there if I can. I don't like having negative things on my back. It's better to just forget about it if you can or fix it fast, than to have it dragging you down. I believe my tactics are effective though because my conflicts leave just as quickly as they arrive.

*What if the biggest problem you face?

The biggest problem I face is my future. In my mind I know what I want, but I always seem to let things get in the way. I'm afraid I may never get where I need to be. I'm 20 years old and have a good head on my shoulders, but these walls just keep popping up, getting in my way, and I'm just having a hard time getting over them. I have so many dreams and ambitions! I just want to be someone who makes a difference in life! I hope one day I can overcome these obstacles and finally be happy with where I am.

*Describe your childhood and home?

Well I pretty much answered this in my parental blog, but I'll say it again. My childhood wasn't your typical one. I had barbies, birthday parties, and played with my friends like any other typical little girl, but what I remember the most is the hate and evil that resided in my house. They say when you're an adult a lot of times you don't really remember every detail from your childhood, but I do. How could I forget? All the beatings my mom and I took. All the times the cops and neighbors would come to our house trying to get my dad locked up for what he was doing. All the times my mom and I tried to leave my dad, but couldn't. All the times my mom nearly died, but somehow stayed strong. I don't talk about this because I want people to feel sorry for me. I share this with y'all because I know I'm not the only one out there who went through all the things I went through. I want those like me to know that they are not alone, that I know what it feels like to have grown up in a home with domestic violence every single day. It's not something I would wish upon anyone, but it has made me an incredibly stronger and better person because of it. To those who grew up in a loving, happy home, well, be thankful and cherish all the wonderful memories you have because nobody can ever take those away from you. :)

*Describe a major issue or event that has affected your family?

The most life changing event was when my mom and I left my father. We moved to Houston when I was 10 years old and the Lord has just blessed us with so much. Of course we struggle sometimes but who doesn't! This move not only affected us, but my entire family. ALL of my family was in Pearsall (small town where I grew up) and when we left my dad, we left everyone behind. We had to start new, from scratch. It was hard at first, being in a big city not knowing really anyone. I would have to say though, this move was the best decision we ever made. It has made my mom and I stronger and more independent than ever. Sometimes you gotta make sacrifices in order to get the best outta life. I believe everything happens for a reason and God has a plan for each and every one of us! :)
